Welcome to Penistone Ladies’ Choir

Penistone Ladies Choir was formed in 1986 in the market town of Penistone, on the south-eastern edge of the Pennines in South Yorkshire.

Under the leadership of our Musical Director, Jane Hobson, we have grown rapidly over the past year to over 50 members. We enjoy singing a wide repertoire of songs from classical, religious, folk and contemporary styles, all ably accompanied by Yvonne Woffenden, the Choir’s accompanist of many years.

We rehearse every Monday evening from 7.45 pm to 9.45 pm at St John’s Community Centre, Penistone. We enjoy a busy schedule of rehearsals, concerts, fundraisers, with the occasional competition and trip away. If you’d like to sing with us, come along on any Monday evening to join in or just listen.

Our thanks as always to our ever-enthusiastic musical director, Jane Hobson, and our superbly talented accompanist, Yvonne Woffenden for their never ending committment… Thanks also to the stiff opposition for making us work so hard!

Lets get social

Are you planning a wedding?
We love singing and none more so than at weddings....we have been asked to sing at quite a few recently, as far afield as Barnsley and Sheffield and closer to home in Wortley and Penistone. So we thought we'd let more people know that we can tailor-make our programme to make the bride and groom's wedding day even more memorable.

Both sadness and thanks tonight...
We are so very sad that the Penistone Music Festival that we have taken part in many many times has had to fold.
But we had a lovely surprise tonight when the organisers of the festival came to our rehearsal and donated some of their final funds to us.
We are extremely grateful and would like to express our sincere thanks.

Whilst on the subject of funds, one of our choir members Christine Goodwin held a garden party on Sunday & raised a massive £236! Well done & huge thanks for all your hard work Christine! A lovely sunny afternoon & a good time was had by all. Will see if we can get some photos to post...
