We’re delighted to welcome Lloyd Buck as our accompanist for Penistone Ladies Choir! He brings a wealth of musical experience to the role, along with a real love of music and a wonderfully varied background as a pianist, conductor and composer.

Lloyd studied piano at the Royal College of Music in London before continuing his studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where he graduated with Distinction in 2010. He has performed at many prestigious venues across the UK, including St Martin-in-the-Fields in London and St George’s Brandon Hill in Bristol.

While studying in Manchester, Lloyd made his concerto debut with the Grimethorpe Colliery Band, performing Martin Ellerby’s Cabaret Concerto. He has also recorded two CDs of piano music to great critical acclaim. His second, featuring music by Alkan, includes two premiere recordings, one of which is the legendary Scherzo Focoso — a piece that was long considered almost impossible to play!

Alongside accompanying Penistone Ladies Choir, Lloyd also plays for Vocal Expressions Ladies Choir in Holmfirth. He loves working with a wide variety of music, from Baroque opera and German lieder to the songs of Cole Porter, bringing his experience and enthusiasm to every performance.

Lloyd is also a conductor, directing The Barnby Choir in Wilmslow. He enjoys a broad range of choral music, with a particular fondness for Mozart and Bach.

Lloyd is also a composer with work ranging from short piano pieces to a large-scale mass for choir and orchestra. He particularly enjoys writing music that is tuneful and accessible, and his motet Dixit Maria has been professionally recorded by Amemptos Music.

We’re very pleased to have Lloyd making music with us and look forward to many wonderful musical moments together!
